Juneteenth: Time for celebrating equality.

Juneteenth on June 19 is celebrated in remembrance of the Union soldiers who enforced the Emancipation Proclamation and freed slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865. This day is celebrated for freedom and equal rights in the United States. Juneteenth is a partial of a full day holiday for the Americans wherein they organize public, private and community events.
The history behind Juneteenth is that on January 1, 1863 Texas was controlled by forces that were fighting for the Confederate states, which opposed the abolition of slavery. 19th June was the day when the union soldiers arrived and took control of Texas. The newly freed slaves expressed their freedom by celebrating in large numbers and so June of nineteenth was called Juneteenth. The symbol of Juneteenth, a flag consists of a rectangle with the lower part red and the upper part blue in color. The center has a star which is surrounded by white outline if 12 pointed stars. The juneteenth flag symbolizes the wrongdoing of slavery.
On this most popularly celebrated day, US president Barack Obama has very elated said that the African Americans have contributed majorly in the building of the nation. The first African President had proclaimed that this event is more significant as the Thursday resolution has been passed by the senate which apologises for slavery and segregation, Inhumanity, injustice and cruelty. It highlights the principle that each and every individual had been born equal and should have inalienable rights and liberty. Its time for the Americans to enjoy and have fun to the fullest on this day, Juneteenth.
