UOM was setup in madras on 5th September 1857 b y passing an Act of legislative council of India. Madras university main motto is “Learning Promotes (One’s) Natural (Innate) Talent”. M.U. is having three campuses in Chennai (Guindy, Taramani, Chepauk and Marina). UOM is affiliated to UGC and it is accredited by NAAC “Five star Status”. Currently the Prof. Ramachandran is the vice chancellor of madras university.
