Google announced Google Commerce Search, an enterprise search product aimed at all online retailers to give thier users a happy Google like easy and speedy search experience.

According to official Google blogpost about Google Commerce Search, on an average a visitor spends about just 8 seconds on a website before deciding on whether to stay or leave a website. So, the deciding factor for a user to stay on a e-commerce website depends on how easliy the user can find the produc he is looking for. It’s not the only factor but its a big factor. Google being a leader in search is tryng to leaverage this opportunity by offering “Google Commerce Search” service to online retailer.

Features  of “Google Custom Search” are very obvious, users can sort by category, price, brand or any other crieteria set by the retailer. Online retailers will be able to customize the user experience by highlighting special products or connect and promote related products. Other than these features it includes Gogle Search technologies like “spell check” and “search suggestions”.

Google Custom Search will be hosted in the cloud and will make life easier for online retailers. Cloud will take away worries like, traffic surge and storefront setup.

Online retailing is a multi billion market and success of Google’s Custom Search can add some serious money in Google’s already huge cash pool and the success of this product will depend on how online retailers adopt this produt. Google has tried to enter this segment in the past by bringing not so successful products like “Froogle”, “Google Product”, “Checkout” etc.
