Unique Identification Tag (UIT) for DU students
Delhi university students, teachers and administrative staff will be issued an UIT (Unique Identification Tag) to make functioning of the university simpler and hassle free. Students will be provided a “Smart Card” which will have an UIT. The number will remain with them for life. The UIT tag will contain details about the course, year and marks scored and even when they passed out of the university they can track their profile online.
UIT will make things simpler for students as they will no longer have to stand in queues for paying fees or getting library membership card. All data will be routed through the tag. Teachers will be able to track the records like attendence, date of admission or the marks of students.
Companies like HCL, TCS and wipro had applied for global tender. Wipro bagged the contract and is developing the system.
