A Swanky Opening of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa
Dubai opened its tallest structure on and gave the world an impression of emirate’s glory January 4th. The skyscraper is 2,717 ft. high more than half a kilometer which beats Taiwan’s Taipei 101 with 1,666 ft height. This tallest tower has 160 floors and has world’s highest lift service. Burj Khalifa is the part of the Dubai’s downtown project; $1.5 million was spent of total 20 billion budget of downtown development.
Burj Dubai the name given during construction to the tower was changed to Burj khalifa after the name of president of UAE, the emir of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan. Dubai’s neighbor Abu Dhabi helped Dubai to pay off its dept by handing out $10 billion. To this Dubai paid tribute and changed the name of the world’s tallest building in name of a great man (as said by Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed).
The opening ceremony was followed by striking fireworks all around the building covering its height. The building Burj Khalifa will have 1,044 luxury apartments, 49 floors for offices and a 160-room Armani-branded hotel. Around 12,000 people will live and work in the tower, which is part of a 500-acre development. But the economic downturn in Dubai’s real estate is already facing losses in property.
