Frosty mornings, icy cars and cold toes. Winter is most definitely here, but it’s not all doom and gloom. When winter arrives, it reminds us that Christmas is just around the corner! Whether you put it up on the 1st or the 24th a Christmas tree, for most, is an essential part of the festivities.
Real vs. Artificial
This Christmas tree debate has been around for many years with advantages for each. Artificial trees are brilliant for people with busy work schedules who may not have the time to hunt down the perfect looking real tree.
Although the purchase of an artificial tree can be costly, with trees ranging from £15 at Tesco to £295 at John Lewis, it is unlikely you will have to invest again for a significant number of years. Fake trees boast the benefit of needing no care once they are assembled. No going away for the weekend and suddenly remembering you have forgotten to water the tree! In addition, no pine needles scattered all over the floor, hooray!
However, there is nothing like the nostalgic Christmas aroma of a fresh tree in your living room? Buying a real tree also helps support local farmers and at the end of the Christmas celebrations, your tree can be recycled. They can be ‘treecycled’ to be used for landscaping and hiking trails. Whilst our trees are growing they also provide crucial habitats for wildlife.
Big vs. Little
Christmas is all about over exaggeration and big statements, so why be any different with your tree? A 6ft tree will give you that grand impact, guaranteeing anyone entering your home to be left in awe.
Choose a Colour Scheme
Less is more. To keep your tree simple and sophisticated, white lights are a must buy. Coloured lights can be seen as slightly outdated. However, this doesn’t mean there will no colour on your tree. Pick a colour scheme and add some festive baubles to add some sparkle. You still want to be able to see your tree however, so try not to go overboard on the tinsel!
Don’t Stop at the Tree
Christmas is here so spread it round the whole house! Ornaments, cinnamon sticks, and fir cones will all give your house that festive feel. Candles are also a great way to spice up your home. Yankee candles have a great range including a special Christmas selection. Keep your colour scheme in mind and have your accessories match your tree to tie all your rooms together.
